Favorite MeFe Monon Traditions!

2011 Monon Bell Ticket

Are you ready?

We asked current Media Fellows to share their favorite  Monon Traditions!

“My only Monon tradition has been sitting on the Wabash side with my dad…my new favorite tradition is driving him crazy by wearing Black and Gold to the game!” -Alex Gasaway ’14

“I love the game because it reminds me of high school games. It’s really cool here because we’re such a close community and everyone knows the players. It’s one of the only games that the entire school (along with tons of other people) gets together to show support for DePauw.” –Kelly Reeves ‘13

This is my first Monon but I’m looking forward to tailgating and the football game because I’m taking pictures for the paper!” –Stephanie Aanenson ‘15

“The 12 am free pancake breakfast. Yum.” –Emily Green ‘14

“My favorite Monon tradition would be eating pancakes in the Hub the night of the game. No matter where people were on campus or what they were doing, everyone seems to come together to enjoy free pancakes at midnight. It always makes me feel like our campus is connected even though we’re all so busy with different interests.” –Margaret Distler ‘13

“Tailgating!” –Meg Crowley ‘14

“My favorite Monon tradition is how many Alumni come back for the game. I’m the third of my siblings to come to DePauw so Monon is a great opportunity for my sisters and I to spend time together cheering on our team!” –Molly McGonigal ‘12

End of an Era!

The Monon Grill closed its doors Monday, Sept. 5th here in Greencastle! Many Media Fellows will remember the Monon as a great, local place for home-cooked food and conversation on the north side of town.

One of our intrepid First-Year Media Fellows did a SoundSlides project on the Monon last Spring. We attach the link so you can get one last look at one of our favorite local haunts!
